I practice various forms of yoga, primarily in the expression of vinyasa with a fusion of hatha. I have a deep passion for developing flexibility, exploring new ways to transition between poses, as well as the practice of inversions. I do not believe in the term ‘self-taught yogi’ as we are all growing and learning from those around us. I am, and always will be, a student of intuition and a student of yoga. I take the highest honour in guiding others through their practice, and express gratitude each day to have the opportunity to do so.
I have a great amount of experience teaching various types of yoga including vinyasa, hatha, power, yang/yin & deep stretch. I have taught in many different settings - hot studio, lifting gyms, community centres, outdoor locations, in clients homes, as well as online. Beyond this, I teach individuals of all levels!
MY Personal Journey
Through university I began following various yoga accounts on social media and often found myself thinking ‘I wish that could be me’ and ‘that could never be me’. Stuck in a state of dreaming.
In my last year of university my hamstrings were so tight that I often wasn’t able to completely straighten my right leg when I walked. I was truly in SO much pain at all times. At this point I still didn’t practice yoga because I honestly had no idea where to start.
Fast forward several months - I moved to South Korea after graduating university to teach English at a private school in Gwangju. I found a great amount of inspiration from the environment I was in a finally decided to give yoga a real shot. No exaggeration - once I started I never stopped. When I began I couldn’t even come close to touching my toes (re extreme hamstring pain) and within 6 months I was in the splits. I absolutely fell in love with putting in work and watching my body happily respond. Not only with the increase in flexibility, but the reduction of pain. In every way imaginable. Back pain, hamstring pain, shin splints, neck pain. I learned that yoga is truly therapy to the physical body as well as the mind.
I continued my practice as a student for many years (and many more to come). A practice that stayed with me through many moves & major life changes - backpacking Europe, studying nutrition, break-ups, new relationships, starting an intuitive eating business, retiring a business, moving cities, among many other variables. Yoga has always been a consistency I could count on no matter where I have been on my journey.
Fast forward a few years - the pandemic has hit and life started to feel stale. I was craving a change, a new adventure & something that would challenge me in my practice. I finally decided to make the jump to become an instructor. After searching for the most ideal training to suit my desires - in January 2022 I traveled to Guatemala for my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Sacred Paths Yoga. This experience was the most challenging thing I have ever done - physically, mentally, spiritually.
I came back to Canada a rejuvenated version of myself. I immediately jumped into teaching, started my own business and set myself on a path to never stop learning as a teacher. I have become a version of myself I once dreamed about and no longer find myself saying ‘that could never be me’. I take great honour in guiding others into a practice that helps them see everything they, and their bodies, are capable of.
MY Mission
I thrive on inspiring you to:
>> find fulfilling & inspiring movement
>> develop your unique style of practice
>> find movement based upon how you feel rather than how you look
>> push your boundaries, dream bigger & discover what your body is capable of
>> develop comfort and confidence - both in your practice, and in your body
>> find an overall reduction in pain and an increase in mobility
My overall goal - I want to help all clients FEEL good. Mentally refreshed - a clear mind, intentional breaths, and laser focus. Physically comfortable - young mobility, no pain and off-the-charts confidence.
A mind-body focused practice & lifestyle changed my life for the better and nothing makes me happier than seeing YOU thrive under the power of mindful movement.
